Mickey Go Local (MGL) is a campaign featuring Mickey Mouse with a Singapore/Malaysian twist. As part of the campaign, Mickey Go Local Malaysia required a video segment called Jom Sembang to be posted on Instagram and Facebook. The video showcased talents dancing and shimmying in MGL apparel in a stylish, fun and light-hearted manner. The team hired an external production house to execute the video, while our tasks were to look for talents, style the outfits, and coordinate the shoot.
I contacted potential talents that I thought were suitable and linked them up with a colleague. The entire process involved locking down the talents, making necessary arrangements, choosing a location to shoot, doing the paperwork, and finally the shoot day.
I also researched what could be trendy and stylish in planning the outfits, liaised with the talents to let them know what to bring, and brought the MGL apparel and extra clothing pieces needed to pull the outfits together.
On the shoot day, I focused on the talents and wardrobe, sitting down with my editor to style each outfit. Being the runner for the day, I also helped ensure the talents had everything they needed, were feeling alright and that the whole team was fed and hydrated!
Being a part of the coordinating team was extremely fulfilling, and I really enjoyed helping everyone in whatever way I could and giving feedback whenever needed to ensure a smooth day for everyone.
The external production house sent us a couple of drafts over the next few weeks, taking our feedback into consideration, before the video was eventually posted on Instagram and Facebook.
