To combat shark finning, our group reached out to WWF and worked on delivering strategies aimed at educating the public about the cruel reality behind each bowl of shark fin soup. While we cannot prevent restaurants from selling it or fishermen from gruesomely killing these creatures, we can raise awareness among the public. Our efforts included a week-long booth at S.E.A. Aquarium, an infographic video displayed across WWF’s platforms, a poster advertised in public spaces, and a social media campaign with the hashtag #TheFINale. At the booth, we would also distribute free badges and stickers to passersby, which served as a memento for the cause. We also encouraged people to post photos of themselves wearing the badges or outlining the shape of a fin in their palms, along with the hashtag #TheFINale, in order to ignite an online conversation about shark finning and increase the likelihood of the campaign being shared or going viral.
